Saxophonist Tom Smith was twice finalist of the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year programme in 2014 and 2016. In 2018 Tom won the Peter Whittingham Award for the joyful music of his trio Gecko, featuring Jonny Mansfield (vibes) and Will Barry (piano). Gecko released their debut album on Basho Records in 2020.
